Train Now for the Life You Want Later

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Something that often comes up or I get asked is: I am in my 40’s, (any decade) why should I start training now and in particular do resistance training, it’s too late? Sometimes they will add to this and say never done it before so why bother now especially once in 60’s or older.

Firstly, it is never too late and you are never too old. Research shows what you do in one decade impacts how you will live your next be it positively or negatively. We have adults in their 70’s with us who only started resistance training in their 60’s and they are doing much more in their everyday life than others the same age!

Doing resistance (strength) training in your 30s, 40s, 50s and 60’s is like making weekly deposits into your future health.

Every session builds:
Stronger bones.
Stronger muscles.
Stronger tendons.
Better balance.
More resilience.

Most people don’t think that far ahead.

They wait until something hurts.
Until they feel stiff.
Until their confidence drops.
Until they realize everyday tasks feel harder than they should.

But the adults who train consistently?

While others slow down because of aches, falls, or loss of confidence…

They’re climbing stairs without thinking.
Lifting shopping with ease.
Getting up and down off the floor with no issues.
Playing with their kids — and one day their grandkids.

This isn’t about chasing personal bests.
It’s not about extreme workouts.
It’s not about punishing your body.

It’s about protecting your independence and Training For Life.
